So, how does it work? Following the method we have found
gives the best results, your "player" submits
two or three substantive writing samples to one of our
experts. If insufficient samples are available, we may
request that the subject write several short
to medium-length pieces on common topics in your business. The writing coach performs a thorough quality
edit,
using "redline" mode, to the reference standards
of The Chicago Manual of Style or a company writer's
guide if you have one. The coach inserts
comments in the text as needed to provide reasons for
specific edits and identify any logic gaps, ideas that
should be developed further, consistency issues and
the like.
The coach then writes a comprehensive critique on
the group of writing samples. This commentary highlights areas
of strength and points out, in gentle fashion, flaws
in reasoning, grammar, usage or tone that need to be worked out.
It provides concrete recommendations for improvement
and, in some cases, suggests a simple perspective shift
that may help the author internalize the lessons
and write at a higher level.
Because the writing coach is given several pieces to
critique, the author can identify ingrained errors and
habitual language patterns that require smoothing. The coach
stresses the importance of clarity and keeping the audience
firmly in mind.
Our critique is constructive and directs praise at
the author's effective writing practices, instilling
the confidence to work and grow in the craft. Your coach will repeat the
writing review process as needed until management and
authors alike are satisfied with the quality gains.
We will accommodate
